dispatches is a relatively new quarterly publication that most people have never heard of but that everyone should read and savor. as the brainchild of photographer gary knight and reporter mort rosenblum, dispatches strives to achieve the opposite effect of newsflashes that pop up on our blackberries or crawl across the bottom of the screen while we watch cnn. dispatches brings us, not quantity, but quality and depth.

with each issue, the dispatches team delves deeply into a single topic: water. poverty. the iraq war. russian politics. american culture. by combining smart, engaging essays with stunning art photography, this publication provides the reader with an in depth understanding of a certain pressing issue.
